December Band News
December has been one of the busiest on record for the band with festive season jobs of all kinds, which include carolling in the streets, church services and concerts.
It's impossible to mention all of these, but it is a pleasure to bring a bit of traditional cheer to the local community at Christmas.
So far as the band is concerned, our annual Christmas concert was the big event and this year it was a good one. Guest conductor Ian Bateson did a fantastic job in rehearsing us and presenting the concert. We owe Ian a big thank you for that.
All jobs are important, but one which gives us great pleasure is the ceremony of lighting the tree at Trinity Hospice. So many people attend this event, which is very moving.
As you read this, the New Year will have been celebrated already. The band have two priorities, firstly to appoint a new musical director and secondly to find players to fill the vacant places in the band.
Finally, a big thank you to everyone for your support, without which the band couldn't survive. We look forward to a successful 2012 and wish everyone the same.
