Kirkby Lonsdale Contest
Pilling Jubilee Silver Band have just won plenty of silverware to add to their collection at the Kirkby Lonsdale Band Contest on Sunday 21st June 2009.
Kirkby Lonsdale is a picturesque market town in south Cumbria. Once a year bands converge in the square to compete in the annual brass band contest. The contest involves marching into the square (judged on deportment), then playing a march, hymn tune and test piece. We are pleased to say we won the contest overall and finished the day with six prizes:
Best March - Jim Rose Trophy
Best Hymn Tune - Geoffrey Tempest Trophy
Best Instrumentalist (Andy Hall, Principal Cornet) - David French Trophy
1st prize, 4th section - Bill and Mary Kendal Memorial Trophy
Overall winner (3rd and 4th sections combined) - Simmy Hartley Trophy for most points
Conductor of the winning band (Billy Porter)

3. Test piece 'Triptych'
