Pilling Jubilee Silver Band

Sooty the cat

Here is the story of Sooty the cat...

Hello! My name is Sooty and I am 13 weeks old.

You might be wondering why I am on Pilling Band's website. Well, I'll tell you my story. Until 6 weeks ago I was living rough. On the night of Tuesday the 30th September I was really cold. I had been wandering round and couldn't find anywhere warm to sleep. In the distance, I heard some music playing. It sounded really good and I realised it must be Pilling Band (although I did think the principal cornet player was a little flat). When I got onto the car park I noticed that some of the car engines were still warm so I climbed under the bonnet of a car and settled down to listen to the free concert. That was when I realised that this was a big mistake! At 10 'o' clock the band finished playing and everyone came out to their cars. 'Time for me to go,' I thought. When I came to climb out of the engine I realised I was stuck! It took several band members and a powerful torch to get me out. When I was finally free, I was really scared and ran into the hedge bottom. A very kind lady, called Helen came to talk to me. She seemed friendly enough so I crawled out and let her pick me up. Another lady, called Shelley brought a drum case to put me in. Next thing I knew I was at Helen and Andy's house. They fed me and cuddled me overnight but in the morning I was taken to the vet with the hopes of being re-housed. The vet told me I had cat flu and couldn't go to my new home because there was already a cat living there who migh catch my cold. What a surprise I had when 3 days later Helen came back to pick me up from the vet and took me back to live with her and Andy who I now call 'Mummy' and 'Daddy'. Now I don't have to worry about keeping warm at night or where my next meal is coming from. I like living with my new family and I can't wait to get a brother or sister soon!!!
